Gorillas
thrilled by Planet of the Apes movie
Planet of the Apes
has been given its first UK screening in front of a family of gorillas.
Zoo keepers at Chessington
World of Adventures showed video clips from the film which reportedly
caused the gorillas to beat their chests in excitement.
The park's gorilla
enclosure has been a popular attraction thanks to publicity about the
film.
Headkeeper Chris
Anscombe told The Sun: "At first they were a bit tentative about
the TV being there - then curiosity got the better of them.
"By the end
they were jumping as if they wanted to be in the front row of the cinema."
He added: "Interest
in the gorillas has been unprecedented because of all the talk about
the film. It's choc-a-bloc with humans outside their cage. We thought
we'd show the animals what all the fuss was about."
The film premieres
in London on August 14.
