Couple
Spots First Puma-like Essex Big Cat since Outbreak of Foot-And-Mouth
Crisis
UK
- A couple have reported the first sighting of the puma-like Essex Big
Cat since the outbreak of the foot-and-mouth crisis.
The large greyish-black,
cat-like creature was spotted by Debbie Lowe and Barry Hasler as they
were driving towards Littley Green, near Felsted.
They stopped their
car and spent more than five minutes looking at the puma-type animal
before it went out of sight.
Ms Lowe said: "It
was definitely not a dog or a fox. It was slinking along and kept turning
around and looking at us.
"It had a long
slinky tail and a big head. We were going to drive along the track and
then we thought better of it."
John Hancock, of
the Essex Big Cat Research Project, told Ananova it is the first sighting
since the foot-and-mouth outbreak because people have not had the same
access to the countryside.
He said: "We've
still got some summer time left with long days and footpaths are opening
so I'm really hoping people will come forward with more sightings."
Anyone who spots
the Essex Big Cat can contact Mr Hancock on 01376 342384.
