Tourist Survives Mountain Range For Two Weeks On a Chocolate Bar &
One Tangerine
ISRAEL
- - An Israeli tourist has been rescued from a mountain range
after surviving for two weeks on a tangerine and a chocolate bar.
Ifat Madar disappeared
while climbing the Chimanimani mountains in Zimbabwe.
Rescuers say they
hadn't been expecting to find the 22-year-old alive.
The search involved
Army personnel, national parks staff, outward bound experts and volunteers
from across the country.
It was backed up
by an Air Force of Zimbabwe helicopter and a private plane. She was
eventually spotted on the Mozambique side of Kweza Peak.
Miss Madar said:
"It's good to be back. The ordeal was like a bad dream from which
I desperately wanted to wake up."
One of the rescue
team, Guy Gary, told the Zimbabwe Daily News: "All these days we
were actually looking for a body. It was raining and bitterly cold up
there."
