A
quadruple heart bypass patient who sailed single-handed around Britain
is now planning a round-the-world yacht trip.
John Reeveley, 60,
spent 62 days sailing around Britain, but is now back in his Scarborough
home.
He used his savings
to buy and renovate the Tamurey and took just two months to complete
the round-Britain trip. Now he's considering joining the crew of a round-the-world
yacht to make the most of his second chance.
The 62-year-old
grandfather said: "After navigating around Britain the only thing
that is likely to spark my imagination now would be trans-global sailing.
"Every day
was an adventure as I moored in a new port and the whole thing has left
me feeling more philosophical about life and the future I have before
me.
"At the end
of the day I've got a yacht which is expensive to keep and I'm not going
to be content sailing around Scarborough harbour for the rest of my
life. So I've thought about selling up and joining the crew of a round-the-world
vessel. But obviously that's a long way down the line at the moment."
Mr Reeveley suffered
two heart attacks and was forced to have a life-saving operation, reports
the Yorkshire Evening Post.
A team of heart
specialists led by consultant Kevin Watterson operated on him at the
BUPA Hospital in Roundhay, Leeds.
