Puppy Perfume Hits Store Shelve in Glasgow
GLASGOW
- A Glasgow store is planning to launch a range of designer perfume
for dogs. Frasers say owners can spray their Oh My Dog! perfume on a
brush before grooming their pet.
A 100ml bottle will
cost £25.
Its shampoo - at
£13.50 for 200ml - has "hints of rosewood, orange leaves,
freesia osmanthus, sandalwood and vanilla", the shop says.
The range was created
by two Frenchmen, Etienne de Swardt and Laurent Jugeau, who used to
work for Parfums Givenchy in Paris, the Evening Times reports.
The range will be
launched in September.
Samantha Scott,
a veterinary behaviourist at Glasgow Veterinary School, warned the perfume
may make dogs become more aggressive.
She said: "A
dog's smell is vital to how it communicates. It could lead to aggression
between dogs."
There are mixed
reactions to the perfume from Glaswegian dog owners.
Restaurant manager
Gemma Bain, 24, of Hyndland, who has a lhasa apso called Caladh, said:
"I wouldn't buy the products. They are a bit pretentious. The only
people who would buy them would be the likes of Geri Halliwell and footballers'
wives."
Henry McMahon, 34,
a roofer from Partick, who has a rottweiller called Ralph, said using
the perfume would be "much better than having a smelly dog."
