Scramble to Grab Money On Florida Street After Robbery Attempt
People scrambled
to get their hands on stolen money after armed bank robbers threw it
away in a Florida street.
The money was grabbed
by about a dozen people, including a woman who abandoned her baby in
a pram on the pavement.
The drivers of a
Rolls Royce and a Mercedes also attempted to grab some of the cash.
Police say the two
men got rid of the money from a Bank United branch in West Palm Beach
because some notes were stained red from a hidden explosive dye pack.
The robbers fled
in a van which they abandoned with some more money inside it.
One witness, Jimmy
Charles, said: "At first I thought it was a car accident because
everyone was getting out of their cars and bending down.
"But when I
got real close I saw that it was people grabbing up money - and lots
of it."
Police said around
$1,000 (£697) was handed in by members of the public.
It's not known how
much was stolen.
