TV Addicted Snake Gives Family The Slip Because Star Trek Not On

STROUD - A family has appealed for help after their telly addict pet snake gave them the slip because Star Trek wasn't on.

Chris liked nothing better than to curl up in front of the TV with his owners and watch his favourite programme.

But the North American corn snake slipped out through the patio doors when the family watched something else on TV.

Now the Burgin family, from Eastington, near Stroud, Gloucestershire, are appealing for help in finding their three-and-a-half feet long pet.

Ken Burgin, his children Daniel, 14, Elizabeth, 12, and wife Rebecca are all praying for Chris's safe return.

He said: "He used to love watching Star Trek but this particular evening the programme we had on wasn't that good so he obviously had other ideas and left.

"He always used to sit with us and watch the TV - that is when he wasn't up someone's sleeve - because they just love the warmth.

"The last time I saw him he was doing what he often did and was climbing down the chair behind my back.

"Unfortunately the patio doors were open and we didn't realise he had gone until it was too late."

Mr Burgin says the one-year-old snake, which is brown and orange, is harmless but he reported it missing to police because he feared people may panic if they see it.
