BRAZIL -- Brazilians
have been offered a new incentive to save electricity - free
light bulbs.
Consumers who meet electricity rationing targets
will be rewarded with a light bulb.
The Sao Paulo-based Caiua electricity company
plans to give away 11,000.
"It's completely crazy!", one bemused
resident told Diario Online.
"They're not even the new energy-saving
light bulbs. We took out half the light bulbs in the house just
to meet the target!"
Brazil is battling with its worst energy shortage
since the 1950s. Electricity rationing is affecting every household
in the country.
