The High Llamas
have teamed up with Belgian artist Jean Pierre Muller to create
a "musical painting".
The work is
a freestanding upright structure which responds to gentle touch
pressure.
Touch activates
and shuts down the musical elements of the painting.
These musical
elements are part of a multi-track composition which plays continuously
and can only be heard when the viewer selects the track by touching
the painting.
The music includes
dissonant harps, electronics, French pop and swirling brass.
The painting
is called Waterloo to Waterloo.
It draws on
images around Waterloo in London and Waterloo in Belgium.
It will be exhibited
in the Foyer of the Royal Festival Hall, London from January 19
for two weeks.
The High Llamas
will then perform music from Waterloo to Waterloo at the Queen Elizabeth
Hall, London on February 2.
