Rudy Giuliani and the firefighters of New York are to feature in
a special Marvel comic strip.
Mayor Giuliani will write the foreword.
It will feature true tales of bravery stemming from the World Trade
Centre disaster.
"New York City has traditionally served as a backdrop for
many comic books that have entertained readers for decades,"
Giuliani writes.
"I think we now realise that we do not have to read fiction
to find examples of heroism. The real heroes in American life have
been with us all along. Our firefighters, police officers and other
rescue workers put their lives on the line every day to protect
the rest of us from the danger."
The head of the Marvel comic company, Joe Quesada, says Giuliani
has been "a pillar of strength. All of us have been in awe
of our mayor here".
The comic will be the third Marvel publication to deal with the
disaster, reports the New York Post.
The company put out an issue of Amazing Spider-Man showing the
web-slinging wall-crawler's response to the tragedy, and a poster
book called Heroes, which featured comic-book artists depicting
true-life heroes of the disaster.
