A three-year-old boy has been given a new hand in time for Christmas.
Connor Ankers, from Charmouth, Dorset, was born without feet, no
fingers on his right hand and only half a thumb and two fingers
on his left.
His wish for a new hand was granted after he told the technician
who fits his silicone feet he would like a new hand.
Mum Sarah Meer told The Times: "When we went to get new feet
cast three weeks ago Bob, the technician, asked Connor how he was
- and he said he would be better if he had a new hand.
"So Bob said he would see what he could do and did a rush
job so he had one for Christmas.
"We went to pick it up and Connor thought it was just brilliant.
It is only made of silicone, like his feet, and does not move but
he can use it to hold things, and it's great for when he wants to
hold on to his bike.
"His little face when we put it on . . . he just could not
get over it. It is brilliant especially to have in time for Christmas."
Connor hopes to eventually get a special bionic hand which runs
with microchips.
