Blind Students Learn to Cut Hair
Indian barber takes on blind apprentices
A barber in India is training a class of blind pupils
in the art of cutting hair.
Ramzan Ali says the idea came after he cut a customer's
hair with his eyes shut to prove his mastery of the craft.
He says his class of 10 boys in New Delhi were nervous
about cutting customers' ears at first but now they're more confident.
He teaches them to map the hair with their fingers.
Mr Ali, 35, plans to train at least 50 blind boys the
art of hairdressing.
One of his students, Virendra Yadav, says: "I didn't
believe I could learn to cut hair at first. But now I'm confident of
doing it."
According to the Indo Asian News Service, Mr Ali appears
in India's Limca Book of Records for cutting hair for 105 hours uninterrupted.
