Snoopy the police dog is continuing his fight against drug-dealing
criminals despite having three legs.

He is on full duty with Wiltshire Constabulary although he had
a rear leg amputated last Christmas.
The seven-year-old English springer spaniel is still highly active
in the hunt for drugs, firearms and ammunition.
Originally a gift from police in Wales, Snoopy has been active
in the dog section since 1998 and has been instrumental in collaring
a number of criminals.
His handler, Pc Bill Hand, says the dog developed arthritis in
a back leg towards the end of last year after an injury became infected.
Following consultations with a vet the decision was taken to amputate
the leg.
After a short period of recuperation he's back with his dog section
in Devizes.
Pc Hand said: "Snoopy is a real pro-active search dog, he
has had many successes and the loss of his leg appears to have had
no real effect on him, its just like he's had his toes clipped."
Snoopy is due for retirement, to live with his handler and family,
as soon as a replacement puppy has been trained.
A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: "We're not aware of
any other three-legged dogs working for the police across the country.
He's a great asset, although a little unusual looking now."
