A woman has been reunited with a locket 50 years after she lost it
on a beach.
Neata Curl lost the locket, a gift from her father-in-law, on a
Bournemouth beach.
It lay undiscovered for six years then was picked up by May Reeves,
who tried but failed to find its owner. A radio appeal finally brought
the two women together.
The gold and emerald locket contained a picture of Neata and her
husband George, and was inscribed with: "Neata, from Pop".
Mrs Reeves, from Poole in Dorset, kept the locket safe for decades
when she failed to find Neata, who lives in Southampton. The story
was featured on a local radio station and Mr Curl, 78, heard it.
Mrs Curl, now 76, told the Daily Mail: "I never thought I
would see it again. I lost it on the beach when I got up to go for
a swim. It just fell out of my hand and I couldn't find it no matter
how hard I tried. I'm so grateful to May."
Mrs Reeves said: "We've kept it in a box all these years.
It's survived house moves and all sorts of things. We are very pleased
to give it back. Persistence seems to have paid off."
