A Scotsman is setting up classes to teach dogs how
to dance.
Eric Ferguson, of Dunblane, believes canine dance
classes will improve dogs' learning skills.
He says dance classes are a natural extension of
agility courses designed to make pets more obedient.
Mr Ferguson, an animal welfare officer with Clackmannanshire
Council, says dog dancing lessons will also help promote responsible
ownership and increase obedience.
He came up with the idea after watching a skills
test at Crufts on television.
The Daily Record says his three dogs regularly perform
at local fairs and his border collie Toby likes dancing to Walk
of Life by Dire Straits.
Mr Ferguson, who has worked with animals for 22
years, said: "If a dog and its owners are participating in
a worthwhile activity, then you can be sure the dog will be well
looked after.
"It takes time to teach the animals steps,
but if owners can be proud of their pets they will care for them
responsibly."
