A new survey says Britons would rather have a bright and cheery
funeral when the time comes.
Traditional black, sombre services are being replaced by themed
celebrations with customised coffins.
Eight out of ten people questioned said they would consider 'personal
touches' for their own funeral.
The research was commissioned by Co-op funeral services, reports
The Guardian.
The group has already arranged a Harley Davidson funeral procession
headed by a funeral director in tails and a crash helmet.
Other popular personal tributes include special music at the ceremony,
customised coffins and the release of doves.
Six out of ten people questioned said they had not yet discussed
their own funeral arrangements with a loved one.
The Cooperative Group is setting up a forum chaired by agony aunt
Claire Rayner to pass on people's recommendations to its funeral
managers.
