A milkman in Cornwall has saved a row of shops by dousing a fire
with 320 pints of milk.
Steve Leech was named Milkman Hero of the Millennium by the National
Dairymen's Association for tackling the blaze at the gift shop.
He says he dialled 999 before entering the shop but adds he'd got
the fire under control by the time firefighters arrived.
He told The Sun he then went on to finish his round in Redruth
with the leftover milk.
Mr Leech, 35, said: "There was smoke everywhere. I opened
the tops of the cartons and shook the milk over the fire.
"I must have been there ten minutes and by the time the firemen
arrived the worst of the flames were out."
Firefighters say he helped save eight shops and the people living
over them.
