A dachshund has been reunited with her owner after spending 38
days in the wild in sub-zero conditions.
The dog, named Onni, disappeared while on a hunting trip in Sweden
in late November with her owner.
He says it is a miracle she survived.
Owner Nils-Eric Petersson told Swedish newspaper BLT: "I used
to go to the areas where she was last seen and lay traps similar
to the ones used for catching foxes.
"I even placed one of my wife's coats in a cage in hope that
Onni would recognise the smell and stay there."
Eventually the exhausted and undernourished dog was lured into a
cage and caught.
"It's a miracle she survived on her own. The temperature has
been down to as low as minus 20C over the past few weeks and there
are several lynx in the area," added her owner.
