Europe may donate a new statue of liberty

Copenhagen wants fellow EU capitals to chip in to erect a new monument in New York to mark the September 11 terror attacks.

Deputy Mayor Soeren Pind says the "new Statue of Liberty" would be a memorial for those who were killed.

Mr Pind says the City of London's Lord Mayor, Sir David Howard, has already given his backing.

The project is expected to take three to four years.
