Symphony to be played on household objects

source: Annanova

A musician is to perform at the Royal Festival Hall using vacuum cleaners, flower pots, tin cans and a kettle.

Max Vandervorst's Symphony Of Abandoned Objects is part of a double-bill of performances entitled Planet Sound.

The shows on February 20 are intended for children.

The Belgium composer admits he makes use of "unorthodox instruments" and says he is currently "exploring the musical resources of the plastic bottle and the bicycle."

Vandervorst is joined on the double bill by Manicuur, a Belgium collective combining piano and puppetry, reports the Royal Festival Hall website.
