A Ghost?
Although it's more difficult to detect the "ghost image" on this scanned in low resolution web graphic, the detail and clarity in the original print is stunning. The image on the image appears to be a 2nd male individual of a more ghostly nature standing just to the left of News for the Soul show host Nicole Whitney (centre, in black) is unmistakable on the original print taken and processed by long time News for the Soul contributor Karl Schmidt. The head and shoulders of the "ghost" are circled in white on the graphic above.
Here's what Nicole had to say about the picture...
"It's funny. Karl never noticed it. I never noticed it. Then one day I was showing some pictures to my older daughter Christa who instantly announced "oh cool - there's a ghost in the picture". She said it instantly and saw the "ghost" at first glance, when the rest of us had seen nothing. But once she'd pointed it out it was all I could see. It's the first time I've ever had an experience with phenomenon in a photograph. It's certainly ....odd. Worth further investigation, perhaps."
