Dear Friend,
I need your help.
Four years ago, Compassion in Action (CIA) was formed as a national
non-profit organization to recruit and train hospice volunteers. We
are committed to raising society's consciousness about the needs of
the dying through community and professional education, advocacy, and
service to the terminally ill and their loved ones so that no one need
die alone.
In partnership with
the Veterans Administration (VA) our volunteer programs supporting quality
end-of-life care for veterans are functioning at 14 separate VA campuses.
Our volunteers logged over 27,000 hours of service with veterans last
year. It is estimated that 1,200 World War II veterans die each day
in this country. We at Compassion in Action are working to improve veterans
last days with compassionate, well-trained volunteers. We also provide
trained volunteers in local hospices around the country and have experts
who are trained in complementary therapies that can improve the end
of life experience for patients and loved ones.
Every Fall, the
Federal Government conducts the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) to give
Federal and Postal employees and Military members the opportunity to
donate to non-profit charities. In 2000, 1 million members of the Federal
workforce gave $224 million to charities through the CFC.
Compassion in Action
is pleased to have received a CFC designation (#1058).
I hope you will
give generously to the CFC campaign and that you decide to designate
CIA (#1058) as one of the organizations you support. Donations through
CFC can be made two ways - a one-time donation during the September-December
campaign, or a designation for payroll dedication that is automatically
withdrawn each pay period.
Additionally, donations
from all sources can be sent to the address below. Please share this
message with friends whom you think might support our mission. By working
together, we can improve end of life care and insure that no one, especially
our nation's number one hero's - our veterans - dies alone.
Thank you,
Dannion
