Flower Power For The New Millennium; The Floral Revelry Florist Revels in Flowers, Satisfaction, Community Involvement and True Fulfillment of the Soul...

One florist is successfully role modeling the Corporate Soul concept at work in small business based in Port Coquitlam, B.C. ..Karon Fuson is the Owner/Founder of The Floral Revelry Florist. She is the Floral Revelry Florist.

Karon has designed flowers professionally since 1991. The great leap of faith into full time flower work and a total commitment to a sole proprietorship way of life came years later, in 1998.

But it appears it was always meant to be.

Karon told News for the Soul that working with flowers seemed to be a genetically natural skill and interest for her family through at least three generations.

"I believe it to be a hereditary compulsion, inherited from my maternal grandmother, a calling if you will that strong instinct and direction cannot resist. But in the end, this is where I should be or I wouldn't be here and I have nestled in with a voracity of contentment. True happiness!!!

And now The Floral Revelry Florist has made a very positive name for herself and her business in the Tricity community (located on the outskirts of Vancouver, BC, Canada). as well as around the world.

"I get a lot of orders from around the world - a lot from England and France...from all over".

The Floral Revelry Florist supplies "anything involving fresh flowers" and Karon's specialty is unique design.

"I don't do the run of the mill thing."

Each order is unique; individual and personalized with no two orders ever being the same, Karon explained.

Karon's mission statement is :

Offering assistance for human communication through flowers, colourfully, positively, fragrantly and creatively using the other senses that go beyond words but intimate gigantic worlds of thoughts. Yes, I am a philosopher, this I cannot help.

But it hasn't all been a bed of roses.

"The challenge has been and I believe will continue to be, the prediction accurately of supply and demand with the added dynamics of working with a perishable product that has definite expiry dates. Timing is everything with flowers, for harvesting, for optimum bloom for weddings or minimal bloom for longer consumer enjoyment while still exhibiting attractive colour and texture," Karon said.

"The other challenge has been to the business community and private sector, to lend credibility and integrity to all home based ventures and assured honesty, being out there publicly exhibits this."

But, beyond the challenges, the bottom line for Karon is fulfillment.

"I make people happy, this is my reward of paramount proportions. Sometimes I deliver my creations to experience the joy the receiver displays. This is my payment in full."

Karon also participates in as many community events that her hectic schedule will permit.

"I believe in community involvement and participation. In Port Coquitlam I participate in Mayday festival, Harvest festival in the fall. I have donated flowers for community dinners for fundraising silent auctions, support our chamber of commerce and am an active member of the Tricites Soroptimist Club, a service club for women promoting excellence in business, community service and personal. I am involved on the board , chair on the ways and means committee and next season will sit as president. Our club helps tremendously in the community, " Karon told News For The Soul.

"I believe in community. It's where it all begins."

In the recent Port Coquitlam May Day Parade on May 12th, 2001, Karon, along with her husband, constructed a flower cart "much in the tradition of the street vendors in Europe" and participated in the event.

"A local Yvonne Erler adorned it with her floral artwork. Flower Power has always been my theme so this theme it was. We waved and gestured while presenting flowers to our amused audience. An overwhelming success, a grand display of community spirit and just plain old fashioned fun. "
