Born and raised in North Carolina, Stacey Walters has spent her entire life helping others. From Girl Scouts to a myriad of volunteer and service positions, advocating for others has always been a passion. After graduating Magnum Cum Laude from Elon University and serving as Law Review Assistant Editor at Western Michigan University’s Thomas M. Cooley Law School, she received her law degree in 1998.
In 2008 Stacey and her husband Roland were blessed with their daughter, Shayla. Unfortunately, when she was only five months old her heart stopped unexpectedly, causing brain damage that left her severely disabled. This served as a calling for Stacey that renewed her spirit of serving other by focusing her practice on protecting and preparing families for those unexpected life events and end-of-life issues. Stacey is a partner at Thomas-Walters Law Firm, which focuses only on Estate Planning, Special Needs, Powers of Attorney, Wills, Trusts, Estate Administration through Probate and Trust Administration. While Stacey has come a long way from the Girl Scouts in Hillsborough, the mission remains the same — she cares about helping others and serving families so they have peace of mind no matter what happens in this uncertain world.
A long de’ja’vu when I was kid that I was able to follow, and truly feeling like I had been there in that moment before but knew I had not.
My favorite teacher was Ms. Shade- 5th grade.
My favorite book is the Bible.
My favorite movie is Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Having my car, when I was only 16 years old, pushed up a hill by the ghosts of Gravity Hill.
I wanted to be a ballerina, and then when I couldn’t take the pain, I wanted to be a Rocket. My dream feel “short” when I found out you have to be at least 5’9” and I was only 5’7”.
To help others. I have a giving heart. I have volunteered since I was at least 12 years old. I am very altruistic. I want to help others have a voice and now, I want to particularly support families with special needs children who want to keep them at home as long as possible.
Hump back whale
I am a breath holder. My favorite conscious exercise only takes 5 minutes. I try to do it on my commute in particular to help start and end my day. I use an app (“Relax Lite”) as it shows you how long to breath in and out.
I enjoy most music, but if I had to pick one to listen to forever, it would be 80’s music.
Strawberries
I love a challenge. If in a competition, or faced with an obstacle, nothing excites me more than to think outside of the box to reach the goal or solve the issue. Oh, and let’s not forget coloring… I love using colored pencils to shade and color.
I actually care about my clients and want the perfect plan for them always. It’s not really about making money to provide a service, it is about making sure your eyes are wide open and you are planning on purpose! The end results from holistic planning is keeping the peace in a family; making things as simple as possible for your loved ones; feeling confident you have your perfect plan. I love being that person who helps you ensure that success for our families, as nothing is more rewarding!
