What is news for the soul ?

news for the soul began as a print newspaper in January `98

The Background Story: In February 1998, founded by BC Journalist & show cohost Nicole Whitney who had previously worked as a reporter for BC newspapers like The Province, The Langley Times & The Tricity News. Her intent onwas to create a positive example for mainstream media. "The saying good news doesn't sell" seemed dismissive and inaccurate. We had to redefine 'good news' because I knew that people did not ENJOY being placed in a state of fear. In my book, it's fear that doesn't 'sell'," explains NFTS Founder/Publisher Nicole Whitney.And so began the positive news publication which Nicole ran on shoestring budget (for a very small shoe). The first year evolution was KNOW NEWS - a small community paper delivered in areas in and surrounding Vancouver, B.C. Canada.In it's second year, the paper became "THE PHOENIX" (thus the Phoenix News Network) and eventually delivery was focused in the North Shore and Tricity areas of the Lower Mainland surrounding Vancouver. All the while, monthly issues of Phoenix were published online at the original site (www.phoenixnews.bc.ca) but the online site wasn't given much attention beyond that until it was discovered that the site had mysteriously risen to #1 on yahoo for positive news sites throughout the world. It was then in December of 2000, that the newspaper evolved into the online broadcast centre and community you see here today. Then September 11th happened.And by September 13th, Nicole had interviewed several leaders in the world consciousness movement about the conscious perspective (and soul-ution) to 9 11. One of those icons was Dannion Brinkley (Saved by the Light / At Peace in the Light). That was when Dannion Brinkley came on board as News for the Soul's contributing editor. And in June 2002, the live show on CFUN 1410 am began.
