Mystery customer’s heartwarming gesture shows bistro owner there are ‘still good people out there’

The anonymous customer accidentally left without paying for two coffees

A mystery customer who walked out of a bistro without paying has sent a handwritten letter to apologise – along with cash worth more than double the bill.

Huseyin Duyar, the owner and manager of Dee Side Cafe and Bistro in Llangollen , received the letter with a £10 note enclosed from an anonymous customer who visited the bistro at around 11.30am on July 21.

In the letter, the mystery customer says that their partner forgot to pay for two cups of coffee.

They wrote: “I have enclosed a ten-pound note to pay for the coffees, keep the change.

“Me and my partner are very sorry. She will call in next time she is in Llangollen to apologise to you.”

He said: “I really like it. It gives me hope that there are still good people out there.

“It just makes me really happy. No one would have normally come back and paid if they realised they hadn’t.

“Especially not with all the effort these people went through in writing a letter, going to the post office, and sending it to the bistro.
