Aspirin is turning out to be kind of a miracle drug. While we know that it can provide pain relief it is also known to help reduce likelihood of a heart attack when taken as part of a daily regimen.

Well, a new study says that the same daily regimen which could reduce heart attack risk, might also reduce risk for developing some forms of cancer.

“In this study we analyzed each separate prescription per patient, and therefore we were able to achieve a more exact estimate of the effect of aspirin on cancer survival,” explains Dr. Martine Frouws, MD, with the Leiden University Medical Centre department of surgical oncology.

Frouws goes on to say, “Now we would like to analyse tumour material from these patients to try and discover which ones would benefit from aspirin treatment.”
