Dr Holly’s Advice on Diabetes

Let’s talk about diabetes today. Most physicians are taught that diabetes is about diet and sugar, and about insulin resistance and the pancreas. WRONG!!! These are the end results – managing these end result issues doesn’t correct the underlying problem!!!

Did you know that while 80% of diabetics are obese, only 30% of obese people have diabetes…so something else is going on here. In fact, it could be that diabetes causes obesity.

Another interesting fact that was published in the British Medical Journal in 2008 – a study of type 2 diabetics at risk for cardiovascular issues was stopped 18 months short because when they kept their blood glucose levels below 6 – there was an increase in cardio issues and death risk. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2258341/

Diabetes can also be due to:

AGEs in your food – they attach to cells causing dysfunction and death https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25786107

An infection: bacterial or viral, i.e., CMV cytomegalovirus or Staphylococcus aureus – pathogens

can cause all kinds of disruptions in the body, including diabetes https://now.uiowa.edu/2015/06/bacteria-may-cause-type-2-diabetes

Your gut: imbalance in the probiotics; leaky gut; etc; probiotics effect inflammation and the adhesion proteins in the intestinal wall that effect insulin sensitivity and reduce the autoimmune response https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4078018/

Your liver: non-alcoholic fatty liver disease https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/diabetes/expert-answers/diabetes/faq-20058461 ; https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2017/03/170302091043.htm

Your adrenals: hyper or hypo adrenal activity can cause diabetes – cortisol helps to regulate blood glucose levels https://www.healthcentral.com/article/blood-sugar-and-adrenal-fatigue

Now let’s take this a step further. Physicians are taught to prescribe anti-diabetic drugs, the most commonly prescribed one is Metformin. It is an isolated, synthetic version of the berberine compound. An alkaline compound found in herbs like goldenseal, barberry, Oregon grape and turmeric, amongst others.

When it is used in conjunction with all the other compounds in the plants, minerals, vitamins, amino acids, omegas, fibers, etc., then it has the capacity to reverse diabetes: help heal the gut; restore liver function; reverse insulin insensitivity and support the pancreas, thus eliminating diabetes.

The isolated synthetic compound, however, can cause the following:

depletes CoQ10 – needed for every cell to make fuel

dizziness/lightheadedness

lactic acidosis

low blood sugar

confusion

headache

jittery/shaking

metallic taste in your mouth

weakness

muscle pain

sleep issues

stomach issues:

pain

nausea

vomiting

diarrhea

tiredness

trouble breathing

and never eliminates diabetes but attempts to put a bandage on the symptoms. Thus allowing the underlying issues to continue to compromise the body, while the synthetic drug continues to deplete the body’s nutrients.
