WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) — It’s a holiday miracle! A three-year old cat that went missing from South Carolina two years ago was recently found in Rockford.

Halloween, a black female cat with gold eyes, was found alone on West State Street in Rockford and brought to Winnebago County Animal Services on Nov. 22.

Before taking care of Halloween, WCAS scanned her and found a microchip to trace back her owner in South Carolina.

According to WCAS, Halloween’s family lived in Georgia before a hurricane forced them to evacuate two years ago. Halloween went missing after the move to South Carolina, and her family could not find her for several years.

WCAS says Halloween appeared healthy and at a good weight, despite the fact she was missing two years from her original owners.

Leaders at WCAS learned the family had relocated to Elgin, Oklahoma. A shelter staff member in Oklahoma City eventually helped WCAS connect with the family.

As of Thursday, Halloween is taking a 12-hour ride in an RV in Oklahoma and looks to reunite with her family soon.
